Honors and Awards
Drew Hittenberger has received numerous awards for his outstanding achievements in the fields of orthotics and prothetics. He has been recognized for innovations he has made, for his humanitarian efforts on an international scale and as a local community business leader. Below are just a few of the honors Drew has received.
Presidential Design Award
Drew Hittenberger won the Presidential Design Award for his design of the Seattle Foot™. The Seattle Foot™ designed with Dr. Burgess and the Prosthetic Research Study was the first prosthetic foot to store and release gravitational energy. It incorporates a plastic keel that deflects as the patient rolls over the foot, compressing the front spring and then releasing it into forward motion as the patient rolls their foot forward. The Seattle Foot™ allows patients to walk fast and run on their prosthesis for the first time. The Seattle Foot™ was also the first prosthetic foot to look like an anatomical foot rather than a shoe mold; it has toes, an arch and defined Achilles tendon.
Spirit of Sonoma County Award
This annual luncheon brings together Chambers of Commerce and trade groups from across Sonoma County to celebrate and recognize the individuals they select to be honored with the Spirit of Sonoma Award. The people honored at this event are chosen based on their contributions to the economic development and enhancement of the communities in which they live, work, and conduct business through donations of their time and expertise in support of local business and in helping others.
2012 Petaluma Small Business of the Year
Each year the Petaluma Chamber of Commerce Honors local business and individuals that do good in the local community. In 2012 Drew Hittenberger was named as the Small Business of the Year in recognition of his ongoing efforts in giving people hope.
2014 American Board of Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics
In 2014, Hittenberger Orthotics and Prosthetics once again received the ABC Facility Accreditation in orthotics and prosthetics awarded by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics, Inc. This marked the fourth consecutive time we have received this award, which has a duration of three years. It is the highest level of accreditation achievable in this profession and we are proud to have the first facility in Sonoma and Marin Counties to receive it.
